Session Abstract

Performance Testing Software Systems; A Heuristic Approach Presented by Scott Barber, PerfTestPlus

Monday 22nd September 2008

Only rarely are sufficient time, resources and skilled individuals available to teams to apply rigorous approaches to performance test that system.  In cases where applying rigorous approaches would not be effective, a risk-based, flexible approach to performance testing is needed.  Rigorous or not, any approach to performance testing needs to focus on collecting the data necessary to assist the development team in identifying, prioritising, and tuning areas of sub-optimal performance and to assist stakeholders in making sound and informed business decisions.

This workshop has been designed to be insightful for every member of the performance testing and tuning team at any experience level.  You will leave the workshop with a series of portable heuristics that you can easily take back to the office and apply on your current project to help you address some of the most critical and challenging aspects of performance testing software systems.
